Haute Chocolate
Rated this place:
Charming, quaint, artisanal chocolatier in Montreal’s foodie Plateau neighbourhood. Chloé Germain-Fredette mixes up interesting creations using Valrhona chocolate alongside cardamom, saffron, assorted spices, fig and balsamic vinegar, pastis, Szechuan pepper, Earl Grey tea, and basil, to name a few. Or, stick to bestseller Fleur de Sel – my personal favourite. Salted butter caramel squares are to die for, as are solid chocolate bars ($6) which come in a variety of flavours such as dark chocolate, milk chocolate, hazelnut and more. Watch employees wield their chocolate magic behind a glass window, turning regular chocoholics into voyeurs, or during frosty months enjoy a delicious hot chocolate made with cinnamon and cayenne or vanilla served with a homemade chocolate-covered marshmallow.
Visiting the website is almost as fun as visiting the store itself. It is interactive, cute, fun, and visually stimulating.
Chocolates are $1.50 each or available in packages of 4 ($4.50), 6 ($11), 9 ($15.50), 18 ($29), or 27 ($43). Individual truffles must be kept a room temperature and consumed within two weeks.
Chocolats de Chloé products are also sold at Olive and Gourmando and Camellia Sinensis tea house.
