At-home vibe in King/Portland sammie central

Rated this place:

Reggie's Old-Fashioned Sandwiches

...Reggie’s Old Fashioned Sandwiches may not have a flashy neon sign yet, but it does have character. The wood chairs, tables and counters give off a distinct at-home vibe. Separated by a brick wall, the back area has a few black-and-white photos and a large, old-school Coca-Cola mural.

Sandwiches are the main attraction, with about 20 different options. The meats used in the sandwiches are actually roasted in-shop and smoked at Joy. The resto offers a daily combo with a sandwich, fries and a pop for $10. Diners can choose their own bread like a baguette, wrap, Kaiser or whole-wheat sourdough. The only things not homemade, says Burke, are the ketchup and the wide selection of artisan breads. Only naturally raised and sustainable products are used. The coffee served is fair-trade and organic...See Full Post

Deliciously 24 hours, but rather inconsistent

Rated this place:

*update* Inconsistent. Where's the quality control? My wrap at lunch today was soupy and small. Disappointed. They need to get rid of whoever is in the prep line at lunch or teach her how to make a sandwich. Pronto. *old review* I've eaten at reggies over a dozen times since they've opened. Their pear cheddar salad is wicked as a side a yummy roast chicken blt, pacific smoked salmon, or pulled pork sandwich. great variety of healthy and not-so-healthy options attract quite a line-up at lunch. Still quite a few errors at the pick-up station, but overall improving very quickly. it's obvious the owners are passionate about making reggie's as great as it can be.

24-Hour Sandwich Shop

Rated this place:

UPDATE: Unfortunately I'm changing my review. For the first few months of Reggie's being open, they were pretty fantastic. Now, it seems like quality control has been thrown out the window. I heard people talk of inconsistency before, but never had a problem. However, the past 3 times I've gone in and ordered the exact same thing each time and every time it's been completely different. If you can't even make a salad consistent, then there are problems. I really love the staff and I really want to love this place again, but things need to be fixed before that can happen.

Fried mac 'n cheese & duck confit sandwiches

Rated this place:

Reggie's Old-Fashioned Sandwiches

Reggie's Old Fashioned Sandwiches had me at hello once I took a look at their menu. The front of house is a typical small-table and huge-in-character shop on King West but the back of house is where it's at, with warm sunlight pouring through a sunroof, wooden tables perfect for a long hang-out lunch on Fridays, and brick walls reminiscent of an Irish pub. The service is more rushed than friendly but can't complain too much. But back to the menu. Sandwiches or wraps with duck confit with brie, pulled pork, poutine, smoked chicken, a potent 2-year aged cheddar grilled cheese sandwich - and fried macaroni and cheese. The fries and fried mac 'n cheese are sometimes amazing but sometimes over-fried. Bread for sandwiches are sometimes too hard to bite through. When Reggie's is on, it's great, when it's not, you remind yourself that you can't get friend mac 'n cheese anywhere else.

Reggie's has perfect sandwiches, at any hour

Rated this place:

"...they hand me a tortilla wrap filled with a king's ransom of pliable duck confit ($7.55). There is not so much tomato, apple, sprouts or brie as to hide the main ingredient. It tastes like duck. It also helps mark me as a snob on my brother's walk (the most gruelling five kilometres I have ever gradually sauntered).

On another morning visit, they serve up a joyously obese pulled pork sandwich ($6.95), the pick of Reggie's litter. No, the pork is not smoked. Strings of braised swine shoulder ooze from a massive kaiser, each bite squeezing out more of the Southern Comfort barbecue sauce. Taking a big bite wraps the bun around my cheeks, like french kissing a very attractive pig.

Fries ($2.55) are frustratingly inconsistent. Occasionally they are overcooked, the moisture sucked out of them. But when they are good, they are great...See Full Post.

One of my favourites

Rated this place:

I've been to Reggie's a few times now and I have to say it is one of my favourite sandwiche spots. I'm a huge fan of the fried mac and cheese. My mind is blown with the idea of snack-size sticks of mac and cheese. Come on! Check it out if you haven't already.

Reggie's Old-Fashioned Sandwiches

Rated this place:

I find that this place is very hit or miss. The sandwich selection is not too bad but the quality is poor and the service is terrible. The first two times I was there I order the same thing but each time it was like eating two different sandwiches. I will never eat there again.

Just what king west is missing

Rated this place:

Reggie's Old-Fashioned Sandwiches

OK so it is really new but this little sandwich shop is going to be a hit. Their sandwiches are always fresh and they try use the best ingredients. You can customize any sandwich but their fun twists on old favourites are a must have. I had the avocado egg salad which was very tasty. Who wouldn't want to get a massive sandwich opposed to the mediocre options on King west. especially after the bars and clubs!!!!! One more thing They have fried Mac n Cheese yes you heard me ..... although not healthy this little treat is AMAZING !!!!

Old Fashioned = New Obsession

Reggie's Old-Fashioned Sandwiches

If you`re like me and take your sandwiches and wraps seriously, then you`re going to love Reggie`s old-fashioned sandwiches. For less than $7 I was face-to-face with an insanely large smoked chicken wrap drizzled with mesquite-esque flavouring and sauteed veggies, all toasted to perfection. The fries are well-done and overflow the large container they`re served in - worth trying! The place is clean, hip, and above all else, very crowded. The perfect new addition to the King West strip, and open 24-hours! I`d expect to wait about 15 minutes for your lunch order - but Reggie`s natural buzz coupled with the loads of food being prepared before your eyes will be enough momentum to last you through the lineups.
