Fun sushi spot for a quick bite
Rated this place:
This little sushi spot owned and operated by a Korean family is one of my favourite places to drop-in for a quick bite at a great price. It's popular with University of Toronto and OCAD students, especially those who can't afford the more expensive Gallery Sushi across the street.
If you're not a student, it's a great spot to stop by for a quick appetizer, bento box or specialty sushi roll before/after a visit to the Art Gallery of Ontario. Plus, there's something about the sit-down bench/bar-style almost-fast-food style eatery all tinted a woodsy colour that make you feel cozy, unlike the frenzy of Bloor St. West's sushi spots.
Sushi & BBQ has a number of bento box options including the regular Japanese options (sushi, California rolls, teriyaki) along with the Korean (bulgogi, kalbi). Their bibimbap (with lots of hot sauce) with a salmon sashimi appetizer on the side was comfort food when I was in my second year of university. They have a number of great handrolls, specialty sushi rolls, Japanese appetizers as well as udon noodles. Sit in or take-out.
