Tula west - great studio

Rated this place:

I love this place! The hot yoga classes are the best, really good instructors who are knowledgable and attentive. Customer service is also really good, both the front desk staff and teachers and helpful and sincere. The design and decor of this place is top of the line: beautiful hardwood floors, antique Thai furniture, huge fountains, etc. The place is kept really clean too. Would definitely recommend. *****

Tula West Yoga - Unprofessionalism

Rated this place:

I am a fitness enthusiast. I have been a member of gyms for years and teach fitness classes as well. I have come to expect a certain level of service, that unfortunately Tula West Yoga Studio was unable to provide. While I was impressed by the helpful, energetic demeanour projected by the instructors at the Central Tula, I had a very adverse encounter at the Tula West Studio with the owner. I am a repeat customer that generates referrals for the business and was completely shocked and appalled by the treatment and lack of professionalism extended to me on July 23rd, 2009. It is clear from my experience that upper management have become complacent about their business interactions. The owner, Shannon, was belligerent and degrading. I had brought a referral and my friend sat doing nothing during most of the class due to the lack of options for intensity. The instructor/owner created a very tense atmosphere, speaking in a tone reminiscent of a drill-sergeant. The instructor was unable to create a relaxing atmosphere, nor was she able to give options for less advanced participants. At one point in the class I was not lying with my “head toward the mirror" and was told to change my position. I said I was comfortable where I was and she responded, “Is there something wrong with you?” I found this very intrusive and felt very uncomfortable. After class she persisted to ask me if something was wrong with me. I responded that I could give her feedback on the class if she liked, and her response indicated to me that she was not actually concerned; she became very indignant and told me that I was never allowed back in her studio! She was completely reactionary and this is not behaviour I would expect from a business owner. Tula West Yoga Studio is not an environment where you can feel comfortable voicing concerns or offering feedback. Read a detailed report: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/472/RipOff0472812.htm

Hot yoga and more

Rated this place:

Tula West

After over a decade of taking yoga classes, I decided to give hot yoga a try this year. I've been to a few different studios/styles and Tula is my favourite – and not just because it's a 10-minute walk from my house! The space is airy, the changerooms and showers are clean and the staff are friendly. They even have body wash and shampoo in the showers so you don't have to bring your own. What I love the most is that unlike many hot yoga studios, the heat and humidity are limited to the hot room and the rest of the space doesn't have that certain smell. The hot hatha class I tried was great and I'll be back to sample their other offerings, including Pilates and a spa.
