Just try to walk past without going in, I dare you.

A paper store? That doesn't sound so interesting, does it? But as soon as you peek in the window you'll be drawn in by the most delicate handmade papers in the most beautiful patterns and colours.

Great for scrapbookers and those who love quality stationary. They also have a great desk accessory section with quirky erasers, pencil sharpeners, etc. Buy some for the kids in your life for extra cool points.

A great visit for couples planning a wedding - they customize unique and gorgeous invitations.

Delicate, beautiful and fragile paper

Rated this place:

The Paper Place

I'm not always terribly crafty, but when I walk into this beautiful shop I get immediately inspired to start a project. The selection of colours, patterns and textures of gorgeous paper that they offer is truly dazzling. The paper comes from all over the world, and it's available in single sheets, longer roles and large pieces. Handmade Japanese papers are a must-see even if you can't think of any reason to buy them (except that they're gorgeous). If you're ever looking for a way to jazz up the way you package a present or for paper to stick onto something more permanently, this is the place to go for inspiration. I've covered handmade photo albums and simple pine jewellery boxes with stuff from this shop, and it immediately looks a million times fancier and more beautiful.

Carrying a wide variety of papers, from elborate and colourful printed Japanese patterns that incorporate metallic inks, to simple beige rice papers that are perfect for printmaking projects of your own, The Paper Place is the best place in Toronto for paper. They have a wide selection of papers you can buy in either full or half sheets, as well as stationary sets of precut papers, and cool paper and scrapbooking related products. I use some of the fancier papers to wrap Christmas gifts.

Fridge magnets

Rated this place:

They have a stand-out collection of tiny, yet super-strong, magnets in kitschy collection packs with themes like retro appliances or nigiri sushi. The nigiri sushi ones were exactly like the set I got in Tokyo at Tsukiji fish market. Now I know where to go if I drop an ebi behind the stove or something.

This store is too cool. Perfect for nerdy artsy types such as myself to oogle all the pretty patterns and textures, and a great place to get amazing gifts for anyone.
