Casual spot to drink the night away

Rated this place:

John's Italian Caffe is one of the most popular spots on Baldwin. During summertime, the sidewalk cafe is always busy with hospital staffers, U of T students and artsy OCADers. It's a great spot to stop in for a coffee and homemade tiramisu; or anytime for a great meal. The inside of the restaurant is one of the coziest spots in Toronto and almost transports you to a country inn in Italy. The special, pasta, and paninis are good but the thin-crust pizzas are the best way to spend your appetite for dinner. Wine is served in short tumblers making John's a great place to drink away a casual evening. I've had a hit-or-miss experience but usually does a good job. If you're looking for better service and food overall, hit up Terroni's.

tiramisu cake and sidewalk patio

Rated this place:

They have the best tiramisu in the city. It's the restaurant's own homemade recipe. The Italian food here is also very good. It's rustic cooking, with pizza, panini, pasta and vino on the menu. The cafe's sidewalk patio is also great during the warmer months. Tucked away on Baldwin (just off of McCaul St. by the Art Gallery of Ontario), the peaceful patio is removed from traffic. This street is also where you'll find a slew of other restaurants, featuring a variety of different cuisines from French to Mexican.

Rated this place:

Cute little Italian sidewalk patio on Baldwin St. The paninis and pizzas are great - affordable price for a student. The service there is great as well.

It comes on those awesome raised trays that take up the entire table, and the house wine is almost as friendly as the staff
