Shop local in the Annex
Rated this place:
I've been a Karma member for years, since I lived around the corner and it was actually my closest grocery store. It's a small shop but it's amazing what they can fit in there. They have relationships with a lot of local farmers and producers, meaning tons of local options, some of which are only available at Karma as they're produced on such a small scale. Everything in the produce section is labelled, in fact, not just with country and organic vs. conventional, but in as much detail as the name of the farmer and whether it's certified organic, non-certified organic, single spray or conventional. Some of my favourite healthy options include frozen local organic cherries (where else can you get those?), the wide range of bulk foods (including tons of whole grains, flours, nuts, etc.), amazing local organic eggs (you can even buy eggs in bulk if you don't want a whole dozen or want to cut back on packaging), and even local organic popcorn. Drop by and check it out - you can do a trial shop as a non-member - or contact the store and sign up for a new member orientation.
