While I loved my cut by the salon's director and namesake, Cooney, I am newly loyal to his junior, Yumiko. Yumiko may have left Japan for Canada over 3 years ago but her style sense is obviously from her homeland. While I Yumiko is both charming and friendly, don't expect the non-stop chatter common at Yorkville salons: she's more focused on her craft than providing a salon chair shrink session. And boy, her focus sure shows! Yumiko can deftly groom my rebellious tresses into a fresh, fun and stylish 'do that suits my low-key look and lifestyle. While Cooney himself is originally from Hong Kong, his stylists are mainly from Japan. So if you've got Asian hair or want a hairstyle straight out of a Japanese fashion mag, hit this bright and welcoming Queen & Spadina salon.

The hairstylists are all from Japan. They completely understand what kind of style you ask for. Of course it is an Oriental/Southeast Asian hairstyle. They pay attention to you and do their best to follow what you ask. The price is alittle high but I say it's worth it since they do such an amazing job for you.

The place is really relaxed and they don't mind if you aren't the talkative customer type. The stylists are all from Japan and seem like they understand East-Asian hair. They take their time and do a good job. The downside is that they recently upped their prices...
