"You Never Know What You'll Find"

Rated this place:

Coils, marbles, duct tape, circuit boards and computer parts of all kinds, wires, chains, LEDs, foil, paper, beads, ribbons, tools, business card scanners, transformers, transistors, radios, speakers, fishing line, pen scribers, eyelet pliers, mirrors, batteries, light bulbs, phone jacks, magnets, cables, security cameras, monitors, cigarette lighters for cars, glue guns, stereo noise filters, universal international plug adapters, counterfeit money detectors, vectroscopes, power converters - and SO MUCH MORE STUFF! Wall-to-wall stuff. The kind of place hoarders, junk-lovers, art students and electro-geeks alike get lost in for hours. A bit pricey, some stuff, but very convenient cuz they have everything.

Electronic surplus stores

Rated this place:

Very good for finding extremely random objects to suit your needs. ie. I needed a handle for a bag so I found a huge metal ring there. It was way cheaper and cooler looking than a conventional one.

What's this talk about a shouting guy outside? I've never seen that, but I love this place. I get all kinds of ideas for stuff to build from walking through the aisles. This is where I'm going immediately following the apocalypse. Dibs.

Supplies

Rated this place:

Dave says, "it's got stuff that would have been useful two weeks ago." Things like iPod cables, graduated cylinders, plexi-glass, bread boards, tweezers, marbles, stop watches, toilet plungers, batteries, ropes, speaker phones...the list is exhaustive

Electronic surplus stores

Rated this place:

I've only been in once, and I didn't buy anything, but it's one of my favourite places in the city? Why, you ask? Because of the guy out front who chants "active surplus, you never know what you'll find" over and over and over, day in and day out. Except the one time I walked by with my cousin and his new amp from Steve's, at which point he briefly altered his script to exclaim "HEY! TUBE AMP! NICE!"

Active Surplus Electronics

The guy shouting at you outside in an iron maiden Tshirt isn't nuts, he's just really enthusiastic about this place with due cause. Great for any DIY project, even if you're not a pro, they can usually help you along with the basics.

Electronic surplus stores

Rated this place:

It has the parts you would get ripped off buying just about anywhere else. Has shelves of adaptors and materials for electronics hobbiests and mad scientists. It's now up on the 2nd floor so you have to look harder to find it.
