Ethiopian restaurants

Rated this place:

A fun night out with friends - it's good to get a big vegetarian combo platter so everyone can share. it's true - there's no cutlery and you eat the food by scooping it up with pieces of thin, spongy bread. they have different salads and curried lentil dishes and it's all delish.

That beautiful scent

Addis Ababa Restaurant

I had seen this location several times and finally a friend suggested we try it out. Once we entered the cute little space, the scent of incense burning calmed us down and got us ready for a relaxed and delicious food experience. The owner selected a variety of great dishes for us and we ended the night with their delicious coffee.

One giant plate of delicous

Rated this place:

When my friends and I first stepped in for shelter from the snow, the first thing that struck me was being surrounded by warm, vibrant colours. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who recommended meat combo (lamb, chicken, beef) and veggie combo (chickpeas, and other stuff I forget) for us beginners to Ethiopian cuisine. What we got was a gi-normous plate with everything in it, lined with injera, a rubbery doughy bread that resembles naan in appearance. So delicious, forget about using utensils! Did I also mention there was a live band? Turns out that it included 2009 Juno nominee Julian Fauth. There's live music here every Wednesday and Friday, so check it out!

Ethiopian food plus ambiance

Rated this place:

Platters of injira flatbread, and colourful, well-spiced simmered meat and veg dishes make for a perfectly satisfying communal meal on a chilly night. And Addis Ababa's fine cookery gets served up in dim, cozy surrounds, amid wafts of frankincense, coffee, laughter, and sometimes live music. When I went for my birthday, they even treated me and several of my friends to complimentary Amarula. Delicious.
