Conservatory (gardens)

Rated this place:

A splash of beauty in a not-so-beautiful part of the city ... stroll around until you feel at home, admiring the gorgeous plants and flowers. Great people-watching, too!

Oxygen!

Rated this place:

Allan Gardens Conservatory

I sometimes get to this point where I feel like there’s not quite enough oxygen in this city to go around. Once in a while my solution to this is to head to the conservatory in Allan Gardens and take big gulps of vegetatively purified air. In my opinion it's one of the loveliest and special public spaces in the city...that means any one can go, for free, and enjoy. Not too many places like that around. Stroll through the different rooms during any season and treat your senses to the sights and smells of plants from all over the world. Some factoids about Allan Gardens... The conservatory was built in 1909, the park outside is host to the largest flock of pigeons in toronto and most of the trees are over 100 years old (bless you wikipedia). A stroll through here helps to recharge the concrete weary batteries.

This garden is beautiful any time of year. Perfect for those grey, winter days. Indoors you feel like you are on a tropical holiday in the middle of the city. Highly recommend it!

Escape the winter

Rated this place:

In February they have one room that is filled with spring flowers and it is the most amazing smell! I love all the other rooms as well, but during the long cold months, this is wonderful therapy
