Sweet challah o' mine.
Rated this place:
Every bakery has its specialities which make it worth travelling to over other shops. At Harbord, for me it's definitely the challah, the cheese blintzes and the double chocolate fig (dipped AND stuffed with chocolate).
There's more to the Harbord Bakery than just baked goods. They serve fresh salads, take out dinner type stuff and even handmade truffles. You could pick up everything for a fancy dinner party and not have to do anything except take thinks out of their takeout containers, though that'd probably cost you an arm and a leg. Delicious as it is, the Harbord Bakery can be a bit pricey if you're looking for whole cakes or pies. If you've just got a hankering for some fresh baked bread and maybe some imported jams and cheeses, it's definitely worth it.
