Gem of Jane and Finch
Rated this place:
This family-run Vietnamese restaurant is definitely the diamond in the rough of the Jane and Finch neighbourhood. I never thought I would brave walking 30 minutes from my home near York University to one of the roughest areas in the city for a bowl of soup, but Pho Mi 99 is definitely worth it.I was first drawn to the place when I heard that you can get a full meal for $5. Although their prices have gone up a dollar or two over the last year or so, the portions have also gotten bigger.Their delicious rice noodle soups are served in huge bowls, their spring rolls are golden and crispy and they serve incredible vermicelli and fresh mango milkshakes that keep me coming back week after week. And if that isn't enough, the service is extremely friendly and you never have to wait more than five minutes for your food.Definitely worth venturing into the infamous Jane and Finch hood for this one.
