By Keri O'MearaPreloved is showcasing the collections at its new location on Queen street across from Trinity Bellwoods Park. Old Preloved customers and anyone who loves reworked vintage will appreciate what the new store has to offer.It might seem a bit excessive to pay anywhere from between 130 to 180 dollars for a dress made out of your grandpa’s old slacks but it’s the detailing that makes these pieces special. Upon closer inspection a cute little pleated skirt- The Butterfield- is made of three different men’s wool trousers. The lines are super clean and the colours are bright and varied. The Sweaters are very distinct, cozy and great for layering. Don’t forget, each piece is made of a different fabric so they are all originals.Some favorites include the L’Amour dress with belt, the Margo sweater dress and the feminine military jacket, Bergman. From the babies line, Me Me, the Jackie O style trench, aptly called Bouvier, will make anyone’s biological clock tick.

What’s more ecologically responsible than transforming yesterday’s castoffs into today’s super-slick outfits? A blazer made out of old sports-team sweatshirts or a dress made from an old jacket might not be what first comes to mind when you think of timeless elegance, but it kind of is, if you’re shopping at Preloved. I’ve had a little black dress from Preloved that used to be a London Fog trench coat for a few years now and it remains one of the most stylish party outfits in my wardrobe. Every time I go in, I find something that calls out to me. Their tailors and seamstresses seem to have a psychic ability to create things that look flattering and cute on me, for which I’m very thankful. Classy, feminine shapes and really creative uses of texture and colour keep me coming back. Since they rebuilt after losing a lot of their stock in last winter’s fire on Queen Street, I’m even more inclined to support these Canadian entrepreneurs.

Okay, what i really wish is that i had the sewing machine skills to remake old tshirts and sweats into stuff this cool on my own. but i don't. so i'll buy it from these experts in re-do.
