Freezer-burnt hot italian sausage

I bought one pizza with hot italian sausage 3 months ago--freezer-burnt taste. Had many without sausage since. Tried again recently...did I get the same awful taste from the sausage? Yes.
I love this pizza, but please Big Man, please throw out the over-ripe sausage. Stuff that isn't eaten from the freezer within a year's time does go bad. And it tastes as though it had been sitting in there for at least that. I'd hate to taste what the burger topping tastes like!
