Never has there been a more exciting time to visit the ROM than now. In 2007, it proudly touted its award-winning addition of the Michael Lee-Chin crystal that juxtaposed sharp, angular architecture (think urban jungle meets Superman's Fortress of Solitude) against a mishmash of classical elements that included Gothic gargoyles and carvings. Today, you can revel in even more eye candy from renovations that have taken place over the years alongside fascinating exhibits, from dinosaurs to a simulated bat cave. Fifty-percent discounted rates await you on Fridays.

The Royal Ontario Museum is a great place to explore for history or art lovers. It houses a few amazing exhibits.

I wanted this redesign to be good, I really did.

For months, I defended it while my other Torontonian friends bashed it. I kept hoping for it to turn out, while I read article after article on the changes being made, and the corners that were being cut.

I had to change my tune when I finally went in for my first visit.

All that slanted white drywall with scuffmarks already forming from gymnastic kids running against it? I actually saw a main hit his head and fall to the ground as he was deep in conversation with his partner and didn't see that the wall he was walking against was slowly slanting down.

The ROM is definitely one of the best attractions in Toronto. The recent addition of the ultra-modern Michael Lee-Chin Crystal building has locals and tourists flocking to the museum to see what all the hype is about. The new museum space features seven galleries, a five-star restaurant called C5 and the ROM store. This is the place to check out some of the best traveling exhibitions and natural history galleries. Don't forget: Friday nights 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. it's half price admission at the ROM.

The ROM is a fantastic place to take the whole family on a rainy or cold winter afternoon. My girls are too busy having a blast to realize that they are learning about history and archaeology. The museum has main exhibits, plus a special children’s area where they can play with puppets, and draw and you can also put on goggles dig for treasures—watch out for flying sand! The museum (not including special exhibits) is free on Wednesdays from 4:30pm-5:30pm, and admissions is half-priced on Fridays after 4:30pm.

A must-stop for any Torontonian, since its renovation and redesign new life has been pumped into the once narrow halls of the ROM complete with added wings and exhibitions, and ultimately a bigger presence on Bloor St. W. Devotees have access to the general museum area free on Wednesdays for an hour from 4:30pm-5:30pm, and admissions are half-priced Friday afternoon starting at 4:30pm.
