Sadie's Diner

Awesome collection of pez dispensers, huge coffee mugs (filled with coffee), friendly atmosphere and a fantastic brunch. It's very vegetarian friendly.

comfort food for vegans

Rated this place:

really fun to have a place that uses casein free soy cheese. every vegan knows how much fun it is when someone actually get's a soy cheese that is dairy free. so glad it is there especially when one is attending theatre at the factory or passe murraille.

Try Harder

Rated this place:

I love the idea of a vegetarian diner and I wanted to like it so bad, but Sadie's falls short.

Don't think you can make a vegetarian happy by simply excluding the meat. Things still have to taste good and have a little bit of preparation behind them.

Their burgers are the same flavourless pucks that mean relatives will pick up from the grocery store knowing that you won't eat steak at the barbeque. Not quite worth the money, especially when you can almost see craft burger from your table.

I do hear the chili is good and prepared on site, but I can't imagine I'll be back to try it.

Veggie-licious!

Rated this place:

I had their veggie burger and fries and could not finish the whole thing. It's savoury scent was so alluring it literally made one of my coworkers perk his head and he tried to track the source. Definitely a fun place to take family or friends.

Toronto's best vegetarian diner

Rated this place:

Sadie's Diner

Toronto doesn't actually have a lot of vegetarian diners, but even if it did I suspect Sadie's would be among the best. This tiny place serves up reasonably priced comfort foods (like grilled cheese sandwiches and big breakfasts), alongside amazing soy smoothies and fresh squeezed juices. The real deal is to be had on Wednesdays though, when their delicious free trade coffee is only $0.25 per cub before noon. Load up before work – guaranteed to be better than any other cup o’ joe that you can find within five blocks of the place. The decor in Sadie's is homey and cute - retro '50s diner-style booths and a wall full of Pez dispensers make for a cheerful, sunny vibe. It's not huge so if you're going for lunch on a weekday it can be full of neighbourhood worker bees. However, at lunchtime you can also call to order in advance, which makes it a bit more efficient if you're tight for time.

Vegetarian burrito, Veggie burger

Rated this place:

It was better than any of the other vegeterian burritos ive tried such as soy meat burrito and the cactus burrito. The guacamole was so fresh and i dont think thats even their specialty. It also came with a side of Mandarin Orange/Walnut salad which was amazing. All in all it was good, it was so good it made me want to be a vegetarian.

It was better than licks but smaller, I ordered with the side of guac which was great and was fresh. I wanted to order from one of their breakfast menu but fortunately its only till 4:00 PM.

Smoothie, Vegetarian diner

Rated this place:

For much less than at some of the other smoothie joints, you can treat yourself to a delicious fruit and soy milk smoothie at Sadie's. Choose a combo from a selection of berries, tropical or orchard fruits, and then add hemp or whey protein, or various energy- or brain- or detox-boosting supplements as you please. A great start to the morn, or anytime pick-me-up.

I didn't even know it was vegetarian only - did you? Anyway, it's pretty kitschy cool inside - lots of formica, cottage-esque landscape and wildlife oil paintings, and a truly remarkable collection of pez dispensers. But there's more - the food is actually good. Fresh juices and power shakes, breakfast standards with little mexican and asian hints, the expected collection of sandwiches and burgs but made with meat analogs. And good people, which is also delicious.

Breakfast burrito, Old-school diner ambiance

Rated this place:

It's a nice combo of fluffy eggs, veggies, and salsa. If you are going to eat one (which I highly recommend) be prepared to commit at least six hours to being completely full...I personally like that guarantee in a breakfast!

You feel like you've entered a time warp when you walk through Sadie's door...from the tables to the unique assortment of pez dispensers, this place sold me before I event tasted the food.
