Healthy Japanese
Rated this place:
The Japanese diet is often touted as among the world's healthiest, though you wouldn't always know it from some of the restaurants in Toronto, with their huge portions and tons of fried food. Shogun is a bit more restrained and offers a wide selection of dishes, all available with brown rice, which is not only higher in nutrients and fibre but has far more flavour, too - they use what seems to be a variety of red rice that is chewy and nutty. For a simple meal, I like the vegetarian donburi - a bowl of rice topped with veggies and egg and served with salad and miso soup. They also have a big selection of combos and individual dishes, and I've been told their fish selection is very good, although I don't eat fish myself.
