STAY AWAY!

Rated this place:

I'm from Montreal and I finally got around to checking Sneaky Dees last night; NEVER AGAIN! I was not 10 minutes into the night, when the gals I'm with decided they needed a smoke break. I nonchalantly followed them outside, when a beefhead of a bouncer stopped me at the door because I had a tall can of Strongbow in hand. "No problem, I'll just stay inside and have my drink." To which the bouncer says NO, and proceeds to take away my cider. I'm rather shocked at this point; I just put down 6$ and hadn't even started tapping into it. I start explaining this to him, and he says tough, and then tells me he's kicking me out! At which point he forcibly shoves me to the street curb. I couldn't believe it! I've never been kicked out of anywhere, especially so physically, and over nothing... to make matter's worse, it was a "No Pants" party, so there I am, suddenly on the sidewalk, in public, in my boxers because some down syndrome retard decides to powertrip. So I try to level with him rationally (I should have known better), explaining I just paid cover, and just arrived, and am friends with the organizers of the evening, and a batch of my friends are in tow. But alas, he's adamant I've been kicked out! I thank him for ruining my evening, and tell him I can't wait to blog about my experience! At this point he starts yelling, "You calling me out?!" (um, what? who talks like that?) and he looms over me all big like he's going to beat me up, and then HE SPITS ON ME! Wow, thank you Sneaky Dees, for dragging me out into the middle of the street in my underwear and spat upon! I'm still livid and flabbergasted; I've never been treated so rudely by any sort of establishment in my life, and I've surely never been publicly "humiliated" in such a disgusting manner. I'm just floored that anyone would employ such thickheaded neanderthals... STAY AWAY FROM SNEAKY DEES OR YOU'LL BE KICKED OUT AND SPAT UPON!

Nachos and beer

Rated this place:

Sneaky Dee's may look pretty scuzzy at first glance, but it's a classic Toronto hangout. The nachos are fantastic, definitely try the Hawaiian with bacon and pineapple. It can get pretty busy in there, especially on the weekend after 10, but the wait staff really try their damnedest to make sure you get great service.

Late Night Nachos

Rated this place:

er ... although the first impression of this late night hangout may not instantly strike you as the place to be, for many it soon becomes a regular on their circuit. whether it be for mass amounts of 4am vegan nachos (which you will instantly love but soon regret), or the hungover brunch the next morning, many feel a bond with the curiously magnetic atmosphere. if faux-grafiti, skulls, and desert scene paraphenalia aren't quite "your thing", try one night at sneaky dee's and it might just become it.

Dive Brunch

Rated this place:

They host the always-awesome event, Trampoline Hall, on the first Monday of every month.

The nachos always seem like a good idea, until you're done and moaning that you'll never have them again. Make sure you have at least 3 people to share among, or you'll regret it.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the brunch was. Who'd of thunk it? The portions were, again, HUGE. Next time I'll know though - perfect for sharing.

Sneaky Brunch

Rated this place:

I used to joke about going to Sneaky Dee's for brunch. I mean, just the thought of eating there during morning light was a bit distrubing. Lukily I had a foodie friend visiting who said they'd had Sneaky's breakfast recommended to them and so we tried it. To my surprise, the breakfast was actually delicious and super affordable. Just like the daytime menu, the brunch is mostly Mexican inspired food, with a "Gringo" section for some more traditional items like eggs Benny. I had the Burro Favorito and was really impressed. If you can get over the atmosphere (which is a little bit more sketch during the day) then you're in for a great, cheap brunch that serves until 4

Grunge, graffiti, legendary

Rated this place:

To the uninitiated, it may take some time to warm up to the ragged façade of this College Street landmark. Perpetually busy, the kitchen pumps out mostly Tex-Mex, mixed with some pub fare staples and, in this reviewers’ opinion, the best chicken wings in the city.Upstairs, you’ll find one of the most popular venues in town for new music. Check out the PWYC Wavelength series, a long-running Sunday showcase for Toronto independent music and lesser-known touring acts. As a bonus, you’ll be treated to one of the best liquid light shows outside the Fillmore.Grunge and graffiti aside, Sneaky Dees is legendary for a reason. Go forth, eat and rock.

Place for cheap drinks

Rated this place:

Shaggy students, nubile waifs and tattooed twentysomethings slug back multiple pitchers of cold draft while shooting pool or chowing down on a plate of cheesy nachos at this well-loved downtown watering hole and eatery. With the kitchen open until the wee hours, Sneaky Dee's (or just, "Sneaky's" to those in the know) is one of the few places in Toronto to satisfy the late-night munchies. Fast service and surprisingly good Mexican fare more than make up for the cavernous basement washrooms...

Cheap drinks

Rated this place:

Sneaky Dee's

Best mexican food in Toronto. Great nachos. Also, Sneaky Dee's upstairs is the best place to dance when you're feeilng buzzed with your friends. I used to go there for its amazing mexican food and cheap beer, until I discovered the upstairs bar/club which is always filled with cool people to dance and chat with.
