Another sushi joint! Jus over that next hill.

Rated this place:

Why is everyone having the same problem with Sushi Island?I invite all the Bold and Adventurous to try Sushi D. it's automatically on my good list because they have "fancy schmancy" rolls on their all-you-can-eat menu. Usually all-you-can-eat Japanese is filled with the fairly boring typically standard Japanese food items. At Sushi D, pretty much everything on their ala carte menu is available for all-you-can-eat. SCORE!You must try the spicy scallop roll especially on a hot humid day. It somehow has a refreshing cool taste. You're probably thinking I'm speaking crazy, but you'll know exactly what I mean when you have this roll. One of the other items I thoroughly enjoyed was the rock shrimp. It was deep fried to a perfect crispy and tossed in some kind of garlic sauce. Deep fried and garlic are also known as my lovers. Hence why, I devoured the shrimps without taking a breath of air.The staff was friendly and helpful - they made suggestions when we were in a stump. The decor is cute, but classy. The restaurant is intimate. And the food is creatively tasty.A must to try menu:- Treasure island 3 orders - Tuna Tatataki (beautiful presentation) - Rock Shrimps 3 orders - Teriyaki beef stuffed with Japanese mushrooms. -Tempura Ice Cream with Kahlua coffee liquor.I guess this place is for people that don't understand Sushi Island on College (like me)Great competitor for Sushi Island. Sushi D is definitely a joint I'll be checking out again!

Good Food - Bad Experiences

Rated this place:

Sushi Island Japanese Restaurant

I would give this place such a higher rating if they only treated their customers a little better. The food is good, but they seem to be under the belief that every single person they seat is there to attempt to rip them off. Everyone I know who's been there seems to have a bad Sushi Island story.

Now, I completely understand the need for policies for leftover food and sharing in all-you-can-eat joints, and I'm sure some people do try to take advantage. But, I've avoided the place after some bad experiences of being accused of sharing (when I didn't) and for them trying to charge a leftover fee for leaving a few pieces, when the reason was that I was ill.

Bento C = Best Deal in Town

Rated this place:

I probably eat Bento C once a week. Although I love all walks of fishy sushi, this box is vegetarian and almost impossible to finish it's so big. Soup, Salad, Tempura, Avocado rolls, deepfried tofu and edemmame...and only 7$ It's a no brainer!

All you can eat japanese

Rated this place:

Not too many all you can eat Japanese in downtown Toronto that I know of. I found this food to be really tasty. Has a few items that are not on a lot of all you can eat menus such as beef sashimi and whole soft shell crab. There are 3 tiers of pricing I - Just maki for $12-$14 II - Full menu except for Sushi and Nigiri (but can have maki and hand rolls) - $16-$18 III - Full menu $20 Friday nights between 6-9 seems to be really packed. Maybe recommend going early or going later after the rush.

Sushi place

Rated this place:

The atmosphere is like being in a Japanese cavern..lovely atmosphere, great service and fresh, plentiful sushi every time in a fabulous part of town! Sitting in the window feels like being a goldfish and enjoying the view of the world in a protective bowl.

I dont know about sitting in there, but its always got line ups. They make sushi quick and I take it home with a 20% discount (but you have to remember to ask for it). I hear the all you can eat is a really good deal. You know what i'm gonna eat it tonight!

So good and so cheap. Gimme 2 days and a couple of ginger ales and I swear I could bankrupt this place. No catches, so much sushi.
