24-hr Nostalgia
Rated this place:
One of the most nostalgia-inducing greasy spoons in Toronto, no question. It looks like a genuine New York City diner circa 1950 (it's likely doubled as one in a few movies), it's open 24 hours and the staff and regulars are what most people would call 'real characters'. But that's about all it's got going for it. It scores low marks in the cleanliness department (the toilets are questionable at best and the cooks aren't known for washing their hands - which tells a lot about the overall attitude of a place, no?), the food lacks love and the prices are steep (considering the quality of the food). Best time to go: LATE.
