The pricing can be sky high for a-la-carte ordering of their delicious recommended daily fish, but ordering up a cafe au lait will get you all the best goodies at a great price plus a slice of cake. It's also fun to stick around during the odd hours between lunch and dinner, watch Toshi pull apart a whole Kanpachi and see his knife skills at work. Bonus that they're open for lunch and dinner nearly daily.

Grilled to perfect softness, the sweet eel melts in your mouth and is perfectly complemented by Japanese rice cooked right. Strangely located in an ugly Scarborough strip mall next to a popular Hakka Chinese-Indian restaurant (Lin Garden), this Japanese cafe is quaintly cute and features an authentic menu of cooked cuisine (though sushi can be had in a separate area in the back.) There's a large selection of cakes in the refrigerated display for dessert.
