Yamato - A Japanese Dining Tragedy

Rated this place:

If you're craving a fantastic Japanese dining experience, then you might want to stop by Tim Horton's and have a donut - because you won't find it at Yamato. Food that is sub-par and virtually inedible. Customer service that is worse than the telephone company and the menu prices are perfectly reasonable - if you live in Monaco. The only way this place could get any better is if it closed permanently. Yes, this is a horrible review. But they absolutely and honestly deserve it. We have dined in fine restaurants all over the world - and 99% of them have been great or perfectly acceptable. But Yamato goes so far beyond bad and dreadful and awful - it deserves to be singled out for the truly unfortunate dining disaster that it is. If you've ever wondered what Japanese garbage tastes like, then Yamato is the restaurant for you. And just in case you end up there, you're going to need this link: www.peptobismol.com

Katsu don

Rated this place:

I love sitting on their patio in the summertime, people watching. It's the perfect place to have a quick lunch break after a long day of shopping up and down Bloor St. While their sushi and teppanyaki are pretty average, their katsu don is what keeps me coming back. It's a huge bowl of rice topped with breaded pork chop and sauce with an egg cooked on top.

Teppanyaki

Rated this place:

The fried rice is something I often crave, be sure to upgrade from plain steamed rice. The sushi and the teppanyaki are both great!
