Quiet brunch

Rated this place:

Cantine Restaurant Bar

Even though it's a stone's throw away from some posh & pricey Avenue Rd. establishments, Cantine is surprisingly down to earth. Nestled away among the Av/Dav flowershops & another fave, discount fashion outlet, Ends, Cantine has Yorkville sophistication with Annex casualness. My fave tweak on a classic item is a red pepper, roasted pear & brie frittata. Get there early to avoid the rush & enjoy a peaceful brunch in an warm, inviting space.

good for gabbing over your brunch...

Rated this place:

Great atmosphere and a varied menu keep crowds returning to Cantine for weekend brunch. Vibrant art work and cozy armchairs set the stage for a delightful meal – perfect for catching up with your girlfriends over cappuccinos. If feeling decadent you can indulge in a ham and brie omelette but the crepes, frittatas and benedicts are excellent as well. Smaller portions are served and beware- try not to eat all of your toast at the start of the meal!

FRIES!

Rated this place:

Cantine is by far my favorite brunch spot! Come with six or more for a spot in one of the cozy, slightly hidden booths in the back. This place gets packed around 12:30 and no one wants a bunch of drooling line people looming over their frittata. The pear and brie frittata, that is. Divine. As is the goat cheese and mushroom omelette, thanks in part to the generous portion of goat cheese all warm and soft in the egg's innerds. The fries are like frites, thin and crisp and amazing, so I always substitute homefries with fries. It's a bit of a see-and-be-seen but it don't matter cause it's the perfect cure for the lingering drunkenness one feels at 11am after a late, debaucherous night.

great brunch hangout

Rated this place:

Delicous menu in a trendy setting. Try getting one of the tables in the front for the comfy living-room-style seats. The omelettes and sandwiches are great. They also have good whole wheat bread instead of white in the bread basket if you ask for it.

Breakfast

Rated this place:

I love the spinach, cheddar and mushroom omelet (ask for egg whites) and go for a salad on the side. The bread is delicious and worth every bite.

Chicken and roasted tomato sandwich, Sunday brunch spot

Rated this place:

Everything at Cantine is absolutely amazing, but their chicken and roasted tomato sandwich is definitely worth mentioning (and trying!)

The food is wonderful. I had an omelette with fried onions, mushrooms, and tomatoes, and it was so flavourful. The home fries are also quite delicious - there's a hint of paprika on them - and they are perfectly crispy. Overall, a great place to go with a large group.

Brunch spot

Rated this place:

The food is amazing and they cater to all crowds... I have been there for a girls brunch even with my friends and have done a moms and daughters event and bridal showers and baby shoers... everyone always loved it.

Poached eggs

Rated this place:

They make the best eggs benedict - my particular favourite is the Eggs Blackstone - griled tomato, bacon and poached eggs!
