Taylor Creek Park

Rated this place:

Dawes Rd., Toronto, ON

Hiking/running trail: It is very quiet, as the ravine is praticularly deep and so is below the grade of the road. The South parking lot can be accessed on the W side of Dawes road @ Crescent Town Road. The trail winds through forest and is paved. There are many accesses for the people living in residential areas along the park. If you follow it past O'connor, then under the DVP you can connect to Ernest Thompson Seton Park, which is another great, large, secluded ravine park.

Wool Mill

Rated this place:

2170 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON, M4C1K3

Knitting emporium: The reason this is a fave is the people. You'll never find more knowledgeable people than at the Wool Mill. The owner has had her designs published in many books and magazines and has created original clothing for major movie productions (She knit a sweater for Hugh Jackman in X-Men !) . They do knit repairs, they have a finishing service, they offer classes in both knitting and crocheting. Their wool stock is concentrated on classic styles but prices are excellent.

Relish Bar and Grill

Rated this place:

2152 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON, M4C1K3

Brunch

Brunch: Ingredients are top-notch, presentation is great, everything tastes wonderful. The menu consists of fresh, creative twists on old favorites. Brunch is from 8:00am to 2:00pm on Sundays. Owners Joanne and Paul have created a real gem in an area that sorely needs some love, and already have a loyal following.Portions are a little smaller than other places in a similar price-point, but quality more than makes up for it. May be a line-up, so I usually come early or drift in in the afternoo

Ella Minnow

Rated this place:

1915 Queen Street East, Toronto, ON, M4L1H3

Children's bookstore: An independant store in the Beach, with a thoughtfully-selected roster of the most imaginative and original children's books. The owner is very knowledgeable about the business of children's books and really has her ear to the ground so if you're a writer or illustrator, chat her up and you may learn something. Oh yes, and they have live rabbits :)
