Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu

Rated this place:

691 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M6G1L3

Korean food: They serve soon dubu jigae (a type of spicy tofu stew), bulgogi and bibim bap. The prices are modest = $7 with tax. If you haven't tried Soon Dubu, I urge you to go eat a bowl right now. It's like Korean comfort food. You get to crack an egg into your own bowl of stew (which cooks in the heat.) Afterwards, they fill the stone bowls, used for the rice, with water. This creates a little porridge for you to eat. It's refreshing.

Greg's Ice Cream

Rated this place:

750 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON, M5P2X4

Ice cream: Toasted Marshmallow is really popular. Personally, I like sweet cream and lemon.

Cooney For Hair

Rated this place:

441 Queen W , Toronto, ON, M5V2A5

Hair salon: The place is really relaxed and they don't mind if you aren't the talkative customer type. The stylists are all from Japan and seem like they understand East-Asian hair. They take their time and do a good job. The downside is that they recently upped their prices...

Active Surplus Electronics

Rated this place:

347 Queen St W, Toronto, ON, M5V2A4

Electronic surplus stores: Very good for finding extremely random objects to suit your needs. ie. I needed a handle for a bag so I found a huge metal ring there. It was way cheaper and cooler looking than a conventional one.

Gandhi Roti

Rated this place:

554 Queen St W, Toronto, ON, M5V2B5

Butter chicken roti: Amazing, the first time it was a bit too salty but maybe my tastes changed. It actually tastes even better after you put it in the fridge.

Token

Rated this place:

888 Queen St. West, Toronto, ON, M6J 1G3

Stationery shop: Not only a stationary shop but sells home decorating things, art and even jewelery. The owner has very beautiful taste. I want everything in the shop!

New Generation Sushi

Rated this place:

493 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M5S1Y2

Sushi: Lots of delicious sushi for the money. It's really busy in the evenings. They do take-out.

Le Gourmand

Rated this place:

438 Richmond Street West, Toronto, ON, M5V 3S6

Cafe: They have really delicious food. Everything is great- hot chocolate with different percentages of chocolate, the cookies, the entrees. While I was waiting for them to give me my curry, I didn't realize they were going to serve it to me on a large platter like a restaurant. A bit expensive. They even have macarons.

Moonbean Coffee Company

Rated this place:

30 St Andrew, Toronto, ON, M5T 1K6

Yummiest banana muffin: I've only tried them in the morning but they serve them straight out of the muffin tin and the muffins are perfectly crunchy on top and super moist and delicious on the bottom.

Real Thailand Restaurant

Rated this place:

350 Bloor St. W, Toronto, ON, M5S 1W9

Chicken pad thai: The one on Queen, not the Bloor one.

Ruchi Restaurant

Rated this place:

649 Yonge St., Toronto, ON, M4Y 1Z9

Butter chicken: They have the creamiest, richest butter chicken. I had some at other Indian restaurants like Babur and it didn't compare. It's also probably the unhealthiest, in that case.

SOMA Chocolatemaker

Rated this place:

55 Mill St. (Building #47), Toronto, Ontario, M5A3C4

Hot chocolate: I have two favourite hot chocolate places. This one is like a liquid chocolate shot. It's called Mayan Hot Chocolate and it's kind of expensive for a little cup but it's worth it. It's pure chocolate, very spicy and hot. Once you taste this, you will probably revisit the event while you're daydreaming in lecture or wherever you are.

Mel's Montreal Delicatessen -- CLOSED

Rated this place:

440 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M5S1X5

Greasy spoon: I went here twice with my friend. Some people don't like it. The same friend considers it equivalent to the cafeteria at our residence. But it's so much more than that. :) They serve nice big hearty breakfasts. The poutine is huge... enormous even and a bit too salty. Maybe you can ask for less salt, risking offending the patron but it's so cheap! Kitschy-cosy vibe.

Toba Restaurant

Rated this place:

243 King St. E., Toronto, ON, M5A 1J9

Restaurant in the whole city: Oh my god... I love this place. I went here at lunch time with my friend while we were students at George Brown's summer baking class. After hours of labour-intensive baking with no break, it was relieving to just sit and enjoy the delicious food here. We had tea, there were many unique different tea flavours. And we both had the crab melt. It was so amazingly good... I think I also had the corned beef hash the second time, but oh my god. I will always remember that crab melt.

Future Bakery & Cafe

Rated this place:

483 Bloor St. W, Toronto, ON, M5S1Y2

Place to chill: Nice atmosphere and very relaxed and cosy. It's a nice place to come in from the rain and chat with friends. I don't like the cakes and cookies though. They do serve mashed potatoes and perogies and an all day breakfast.
