Terroni

Rated this place:

57 Adelaide Street East, Toronto, Ontario, M5C 1K6

Great Food, Great Atmosphere: Terroni's on Adelaide East is a great italian restaurant. I've been there on a couple occasions and times have been excellent. The two things that stand out about it are: the decor, which is meshes with very well with the flavour of the original building (used to be part of a courthouse). The second is the food, which is very very good and distinctive. There is often a large crowd so be prepared to wait unless you get there early.

Pickel Barrel

Rated this place:

2300 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON

Pretty good overall: Decent place for a bite - it is very chain-like in that it's pretty average. I normally get a burger or the fressor sandwich. If you don't know what to eat and it's closeby, not a bad place to go, decent prices and good portions.

Chapters

Rated this place:

2901 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, ON, M2K1E6

Best Overall Bookstore: Much as I on principle dislike big chains, it's really hard to beat Chapters/Indigo when it comes to books. They have pretty much any mainstream book you would want. It's also nice how no one hassles you if you want to just do a bit of browsing.

Cora's Breakfast & Lunch

Rated this place:

277 Wellington Street West, Toronto, ON, M5V 3E4

Pretty decent breakfast: Cora's is a pretty good breakfast place. It's not the greatest, but there are several locations, they offer plenty of fresh fruit and the prices are a bit high, but not excessively so.I'd recommend it if you want somewhere easy to go to for a good breakfast.

Stars of Thai

Rated this place:

3150 Hwy 7 East, Unit 1, Markham, ON, L3R 5A1

Favourite Thai Restaurant uptown

Favourite Thai Restaurant uptown: If you're looking for a good thai place uptown, you can't go wrong with Stars of Thai. I especially like their duck curry (call ahead if you want to make sure they have it) it's a panang-style duck curry that is excellent.

Double Dragon

Rated this place:

147 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, ON

Decent for quick fast-food chinese: It's a mostly typical hot-plate dishes with fried rice or fried noodles chinese fast food place. You're not gonna be knocked out of the park by the food, but it's actually pretty good for what it is and definitely beats out the typical chinese fast food place chains like Manchu Wok. Good for the occasional takeout lunch.

Rol San Restaurant

Rated this place:

323 Spadina Ave, Toronto, ON, M5T2E9

One of the best Dim Sum places in Chinatown: Also not the cheapest, but in this case, you definitely get what you pay for - and still loads cheaper than other alternatives of similar quality.

Bangkok Paradise Restaurant

Rated this place:

506 Queen St W, Toronto, ON, M5V2B3

Great for take-out: If you live or work closeby Bangkok Paradise makes for a great place to get take-out thai food. Their lunch specials are great value - lots of good thai food for a pretty low price. I especially favour their green curry.

MI-NE Japanese Restaurant

Rated this place:

10815 Yonge St., Richmond Hill, ON, L4C 3E3

Best Uptown Sushi Place

Best Uptown Sushi Place: Despite the unassuming exterior, it's quite nice inside and they have some of the freshest fish I've had - all for a pretty reasonable price. All their food is good, but I especially recommend anything that is actually sushi, be it the rolls, maki or sushi pizza.

House Of Chan Steak N' Lobster

Rated this place:

876 Eglinton Ave W, Toronto, ON, M6C2B6

Awesome Steaks, Cheesy Old-School Decor: House of Chan has some of the best steaks in the city, though you wouldn't be able to tell it from the outside. Some of the cheesiest old school chinese decor you'll see, but their steak is really great - I recommend the ribeye for the best taste and texture.

Mamma's Pizza

Rated this place:

Smoke's Poutinerie

Rated this place:

218 Adelaide Street West, Toronto, ON, M5H 1W7

Greasy, but great poutine

Greasy, but great poutine: Huge portions and excellent poutine here. Kinda of messy with the gratuitous amount of gravy they give you, but if you're looking for some pretty good poutine, check it out.

Chinese Dumpling House

Rated this place:

3636 Steeles E, Toronto, ON, L3R1K9

Chinese dessert, Dumpling house, Dumplings

Chinese dessert, Dumpling house, Dumplings: Well, you'd have to try them to know, but they are: 1. Fried 2. Covered with sugar 3.Filled with really good red bean paste. Believe me, they are really good. They are the most authentic place uptown I know of to get dumplings and other northern chinese cuisine. And their food is awesome. If you need English, they do have an english menu that you can get. (Their sign adds to their flavour...) They have to be some of the best dumplings I have ever had - and I've been to MANY of them.

Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar, Restaurant

Rated this place:

9 Church St., Toronto, ON, M5E 1M2

Duck confit, Gourmet poutine, Tapas restaurant

Duck confit, Gourmet poutine, Tapas restaurant: The meat was just falling off the bone and really flavourful. The side mushrooms were pretty awesome too. It was awesomely good - this particular version was rabbit poutine. They have great food, a rotating menu of food and paired wines. For smaller groups, sit at the kitchen bar if you can - it was fun and good for menu decision-making. ;)

Trevor Kitchen & Bar

Rated this place:

38 Wellington Street East, Toronto, ON, M5E 1C7

Chocolate torte

Chocolate torte: Even though it was during a summerlicious dinner (2008) it was excellent. Warm and not too sweet. The peanut butter-flavoured cream worked well too.

922 Mont-Royal East, Montreal, QC, H2J 1X2

Breakfast, Eggs benedict, Omlette

Breakfast, Eggs benedict, Omlette: Both the atmosphere - which is rocking (literally) and the food, which is awesome.

Well, not really much to say here - it was just awesome. The included garlic potatoes are really good too.

It was really good - the variety here has Chorizo in it, but there were a lot of other options.
