Weakhand

Rated this place:

(on unsuspecting surfaces around town), Vancouver, BC

Poster artist

Poster artist: I first saw his deft work at the corner of my block on the side of a vacant building. Walking around I've found myself spotting more and more...like a series of private messages that dot my route. Wait a couple of days and they might be gone. Hope, desire, anger, panic! It's all there in black and white.

Park

Park: A 400 hectare beacon of nature that balances the city. Views, trails, deep forest, beaches, wildlife, amenities....and a modest golf course damn it. It offers soooo much to soooo many. Where would we be without it?

South East False Creek Shoreline

Rated this place:

near Cambie St. bridge, Vancouver, BC

Boats (in resting position)

Boats (in resting position): These simple colourful vessels seem at odds with the many bloated 'bling' boats that strut along our waterways. They're calmy resting and waiting ....with a dragon in their midst.

Soma Café & Lounge

Rated this place:

151 East 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC, V5T1R8

Wine bar

Wine bar: It's a casual hipster approved "wine-and-espresso hybrid bistro" that's welcoming in the morning and stylish and happening at night. They've got a great wine and beer list and the food includes choose-your-own fine cheese and meats assemblies + a small selection of entrees + some of the tastiest desserts in the City all layed out on wall mounted chalk boards. Try it out in the late afternoonwhen the sun pours in through the well placed pane glass windows. http://www.somavancouver

Stephen quinn (civic affairs reporter)

Stephen quinn (civic affairs reporter): An often hilarious reporter who's good at getting the goods on local politics for CBC Radio. He's intelligent, witty, at times goofy and he really should be given the reigns to host the morning radio show.

Dominion Building

Rated this place:

207 W Hastings St., Vancouver, BC, V6B 1H7

Heritage building

Heritage building: It's a landmark in every sense. As one of Vancouver's few iconic heritage buidlings, this 1910 built, colourful, second empire style building jumps out as a beacon of history past and culture present. Home to numerous arts and culture organisations and situated in the downtown eastside, it serves as a reminder of Vancouver's diversity and a backdrop to its continuing struggles.

Shaughnessy Restaurant

Rated this place:

5251 Oak Street (Van Dusen Gardens), Vancouver, BC

Scone

Scone: To the delight of Vancouver's underground monarchist league these scones are fresh baked and only served in the morning (or is it the afternoon). They come steaming warm with elegantly presented jams and butter. The brits would surely approve.

Lolita's

Rated this place:

1326 Davie Street, Vancouver, BC

Mexican restaurant, Taco, White sangria

Mexican restaurant, Taco, White sangria: The tight buzzing confines of little Lolita's makes it an energizing experience, both eating or waiting for a seat. The food is fresh and inventive. The tacos and white sangria are can't miss menu items.

They're the best thing on the impressive menu. The maple chipotle butternut squash, wild mushroom and chile salsa verde taco is as salivatingly good as it is unique.

It's chalk a block with fruit and goes down easier than ......well it goes down real easy. A pitcher can vanish in minutes I've come to learn.
